The number of attacks on indian students in Australia is growing by each passing day. According to an estimate, 1 in every 4 indian student in australia is being bashed-up.... however the australian authorities have not done anything so serious that could stop this racial abuse against our fellow countrymen..... The Australians need to understand that bcoz of this on going crisis, they may be branded as a "racist nation". Also, these attacks may land Australia's educational infrastucture into turbulence and jeopardise its tourism industry. Students from india contribute $ 2 billion a year to its educational establishments and Indians are also a major contibutor to their tourism industry. These attacks have exposed australia's claim to be a non- racist nation. The voice againt these attacks are getting vocal day by day... but what the authorities are doing to control this is a matter of concern. They need to have a serious think over the matter. Australia, however may deny, but has a racist past.. After its formation in 1901- when six colonies merged- for the next six decades the WHITE AUSTRALIAN POLICY dominated their politics and it was only in the last quarter of the sixties that it was repealed.... I think the australians need a lesson or two from us. We Indians believe in "Athiti Devo Bhava" i.e. we treat our guests as our god. With punjab university students greeting the foreign students with garlands, and practicing Gandhigiri.... have already sent a great lesson to the racial discriminators.... Hope they learn soon.... otherwise the damage caused will leave a cicatrix that would be very difficult to be healed.... GET WELL SOON AUSSIES...
